New Delhi / Pune – 16th June, 2026: AYANWORKS, a leading provider of decentralized identity, and verifiable credentials solutions, announced a successful demonstration of standards-based interoperability for international digital travel credentials, in collaboration with Digi Yatra Foundation.
The proof-of-concept (PoC) led by Digi Yatra Foundation was powered by AYANWORKS-contributed open-source platform CREDEBL. The POC was conducted as part of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Contactless PoC technical trials in collaboration with IndiGo Airlines, SITA and BLR Airport. Full IATA report can be found here.
The initiative marks a significant step towards enabling seamless, privacy-preserving, and globally interoperable air travel, demonstrating how CREDEBL's decentralized identity capabilities can be deployed at population scale within a live ecosystem.
CREDEBL, AYANWORKS' flagship open-source platform and a Digital Public Good (DPG) contributed under the Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust ecosystem, served as the foundational layer for the PoC, enabling secure issuance, exchange, and verification of verifiable credentials across jurisdictions, without requiring centralized storage of personal data.
The successful demonstration highlights CREDEBL's readiness to support Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) requirements for aviation and other sectors, with the potential to enable interoperable, privacy-preserving credential ecosystems across geographies. With deployments supporting national digital ID programmes in Bhutan and a pilot project in Papua New Guinea, this PoC reinforces its position as a production-ready foundation for large-scale, standards-based digital identity deployments.
